We are at war. Not as big as the world war bit still big enough to be called a war. There is blood all around. Things are getting chaotic. As always, there is a good side and a bad one. Or is there something called good and bad? We don't want to get in to that do we??

The General (don / boss) on the good side ( or the side that I favor) is extremely nimble. His work rate is as good as a super computer if not better and more efficient. He processes multiple things at a time. It would be an off day if he could not multitask. The general notices even the smallest of information happening all around him or he wouldn't be the boss anymore would he? It is believed that he has millions of soldiers / spies / scouts all around who report to him. To add to that he is radically efficient that each and every living being wants to adapt his methods and all of those who study him still find him to be a mystery.

The captain enters with the grave news that we are losing the battle. This is not good news for the boss for he would go crazy, insane as he was waiting eagerly for the results from the last couple of days without a hint of sleep. How could he rest when there was a war going on both on the within himself and outside?? The captain looked grave, white as a sheet of ice for he had seen the enemy eye to eye and had to report that to the Don himself personally.

The enemy is touted to be extremely elusive, rumored to be the best. He was the best the drained out captain had ever faced. He even felt lucky to be alive reporting the happenings on the frontline. The Captain felt that even with the best of bosses to backup and the best of soldiers to fight up front the enemy is difficult to capture. For the enemy has no burdens and he breaks barriers as if there were none. Some say that he is not that complicated but creates lots of complications cause he has the ability to convert the opposing soldiers to his kind with a snap of his tentacles. It is widely believed among the learned circles that he cannot be won face to face and had to be dealt with indirectly. Time is said to be the best medicine to bring him under control and it is better to leave him alone than to attack him.

Snap, back to reality. Damn it! I have a cold and this bloody virus won't leave me alone. I m going crazy, insane and dying to rest. But my foremost foe makes my life restless. I hope i could snap his tentacles. Sadly no general can do that directly. Ironically, a warm toast (whisky) in the name of the enemy would do the Don a world of good!!!

The Cast:

- The Elusive Enemy - Virus

- GENERAL / DON / BOSS - My Brain

- CAPTAIN - My WBC

Money, Time and People

Inspiration: My roommate for the last one year is moving out of pune very soon. This one is for him. Think its a bit heavy but unlike the last one this is simple in language!! Keep looking out for this space for more posts and do keep posting your comments..

I always think that we are playing catch up with time.

Even before you realize something important another issue pops up which swallows all your time. Only looking back can you really make out what you had missed in the process of gaining something else. Say for example:

As a teenager you wonder if you’ll be able to buy things at a snap of the hand and how cool it would be to summon things at will. Then your main concern was money and your mind thinks that if you get enough of it then you could become invincible. You are so engrossed in making money - to be on your own, to buy a bike, to eat in a fancy restaurant that you fail to realize the importance of the people around you. Your only intention was to make money and that too you were not even sure of how much to make. Is there a limit actually? Are we getting enough money - what is that quantity which would satisfy us? Can we even be satiated?

Well, the clock keeps ticking and at this point of time you have money, might be enough for some, might not be enough for others. Still there is money in one’s hand that he / she had always wanted. A new hour has dawned but the race continues. The race to keep up with the present. But one thing that most of us don’t realize is that even if we buy a 200 rs pizza and eat it all by ourselves, it doesn’t give the same pleasure as sharing the same with 3 more people . Even if you had to scrap your pockets for paying the bill you do it together. You can’t tip the waiter, You’ll have to put your head down and keep scrapping. But you are not alone, getting embarrassed. Its not the same, is it? Well, its not money but it’s the people whom you spend the time with that makes life more worthy. Sometimes it’s the journey and whom you are traveling with that makes the journey more intriguing than the destination itself and if you get someone in the same wavelength as yours, you enjoy things more.

As time moves on people come and go out of our lives, some of whose company we enjoy, some we don’t want to see ever again, some from whom we had learnt from, some whom we wanted to emulate. Nonetheless, they are in a sense similar to time, fleeting, transcendental and always moving. Just like time you can’t freeze them. At one point or another we have to learn to let go. Similar to ecstatic, cheerful, happy, somnolent, morose, somber and depressed times we have people who make us feel the same emotions. The thing we have to understand is that, if one amazing person moves out then there would be an equally intriguing character waiting for you in the wings. He/ she might be staring at your face and you still miss to recognize them. If one amazing thing has left you, you’ll get something equivalent. Call it law of conservation of the good.

Time is one mean thing which keeps ticking over and before you know an year and soon enough your entire youth has zipped past you. Well you have to move along with it, sometimes without turning back if you are to stay in this game of cat and mouse. You can be as nostalgic as you might want to be but at the end of the day, you should be prepared to handle new situations which can only be done through experience and that edge can be gained only if you are able to put your time to the correct usage. Again, we cannot stress more on the value of time but that said, its even more important that we end up spending it in the most satisfying way with the people whom you want to be with. Being happy is more important than any other thing, even time. You can lose that important time or that extra 1000 bucks for a even more precious thing, ‘ a good friend‘.

Well put your time to the best use. Now, how you use it is up to you really, to make that decision. But remember that only when you lose something/ someone will you really know how much he/ she/ it was worth to you. In the end its up to you to choose the right options.

Perception of perfection

Inspiration: Who said that the modern thought is not mind taxing? Just to reitrate that simple thoughts can be expressed in sophisticated format.

There are three friends “A” “As” and “Ass”.

Well, there are childhood friends who were brought up alongside, have similar tastes and if those friends turn out to be a boy and a girl they end up getting married and start a family. Well, then there are friends who sit next to each other in school. They have their differences, they fight, for the same place to sit, they fight, for catching the attention of the same girl and they fight for the same rank in school. But, when the time comes they don’t let each other down. They keep in touch with one another all through their lives laughing, crying and what not. Then, there are friends whom you roam around with. They are not that intimate but then you have a great rapport with these people may be because your intention is to catch the attention of the opposite sex. Then there are friends who are total strangers, whom you meet by chance say when you share a smoke or say “cheers” to at a party. These friendships are wicked as you don’t have the slightest clue of what they do, and you don’t give a damn about it, but still its fun as you end up dancing, shouting obscene words and swearing together in the middle of the night. And so you are friends. Then there are friends with whom you have nothing in common. You don’t know why you are friends with them, but you are friends with them. You think he hates you but still you are friends with him. Well, for our 3 heroes, “A”, “As” and “Ass” the other two are the same conundrums.

“A” is an uncommon man. An uncommon thing about “A” is that “A” is extremely satisfied with life unlike the depressed ones of a common man. “A” is not the kind of asses whom you usually meet in those high flying parties. “A” thinks that a simple life is one which makes “A” as happy as anyone could possibly be. “A” is happy with his job, has no clear intention of progressing and doesn‘t care that he doesn‘t progress. “A” has no real motive in life and still he is happy with life because nothing can make him morose. A simple man keeps things simple and “A“ is one of them. “A” gets tense for nothing.

As tense as anyone can be or still more or the summation of all those tense moments of all his friends put together sums up the life of “As”. As bad as it can be, “As” always thinks that life is full of bad and tense moments with some non - tense moments sprinkled in between. “As” thinks “A” is an full of crap because he doesn’t get tensed that easily, his coolness creeps the ass out of “as”. “As” is one of them, lamenting as often as he could, cursing, complaining at each and every moment that he possibly could.

Asses by definition are dumb and that is what “Ass” is. “Ass” thinks that he is smart because he has a job as good as “A” and “As”. “Ass” is good at heart and good in bed and girls always fall for him. Ass’s this characteristic is one poser for which “A” and “As” could never find an answer to.

Perfection is something that is as hard as it can be for “As”, its as easy as sucking his thumb for “A” and something that is undecipherable for “Ass”.

Perception of “A” is that Perfection is unattainable. “A” thinks that he is as good as anyone when it comes to perfection because no one is perfect and so he scores as high as anyone when it comes to perfection. Perception of “As” is that he sucks at it because he is not perfect in anything, in anything he says, in anything he does, in anything he creates, nothing is perfect. So he sucks at it. Perception of “Ass” with regards to perfection is blurred because he doesn’t fully understand what perfection is.

To put an end to all their qualms they put forth their arguments to their boss "S". ‘ “S”, We Can’ were the exact words written in front of them when “A”, “As” & “Ass” entered their boss' cabin, after a night long discussion on each other’s perception of Perfection. “S” just like any other boss slips away from this crazy discussion saying that he would arrange a training by Ananda Sami (“A Sami”) the next day on the perception of perfection. A few excerpts from the Training

“Perfection, mm no one is perfect. Perfection, is something that is very difficult to describe completely. Well, God is perfect” says ‘A Sami‘. That is where His perfection really is. In case everything in life is perfect then life would be bland, so much so that it would be like taking your daily calories in the form of tablets. There is no real fun in living that way. A hearty meal after a hard day’s work is any day tastier than an easy meal. God always makes us think that we are always missing something even if we really are not. That is the funny side of His perfection. It is like the horizon. You keep sailing towards it but you can never reach it.”, he drones on. “ A” is already asleep. “As” thinks that ‘A Sami’ is the only person who makes sense to him. “Ass”, still can’t understand how God is perfect when no one can be perfect.

Listening to the last few lines of “A Sami’s” lecture “A” lets out that he is God, as he solely believes that no one in that room could have had such a perfect sleep in spite of all the mumbling. Also, “A” is very happy because he got a day’s rest in office and still he got paid for it. Life is perfect for “A” at this moment of time. “As” perceives that “A Sami” is crazy because he thinks that someone as simple as himself can be God. God is complicated for God's sake! “Ass” still is in daze of how God is Perfect.

Its how you perceive things that makes up things. Amen!
